This means that as soon as you gain your qualification, you will be able to start earning immediately. You will receive our full and ongoing support in your new career as a driving instructor, and we will help you every step of the way.

Training around your commitments

The Driving Instructor training course generally requires in the region of 100-120 hours of tuition from beginning the training to full qualification, and this course can be taken over as long or short a period as suits you (although all tests must be completed within a 2 year period as from the date of your Part 1 test pass). This means that you will be able to take a considerable amount of your training around your commitments or even whilst still at your current job. We offer training in the evenings and at weekends at no extra cost to help you gain your qualification as quickly as suits you.

How long will it take?

This completely depends on how much time you are able to dedicate to the training course each week, but realistically, you could complete your training within as little as 3-6 months. Also, upon successful completion of the course, there will be a job waiting for you at Learn 2 Pass, so you could be happily working in your new career in no time at all!

The Qualification Process

The ADI qualification is made up of 3 parts: A theory test (Part 1), a practical driving test (Part 2), and a teaching ability test (Part 3). Your training course will incorporate full training for each of the 3 parts to ensure that you are completely ready to pass each stage. So what is expected from you at each stage of the qualification process?

Part 1 - Theory Test

The first part of the ADI qualification process is a Theory Test. This is similar to the theory test for learner drivers, although far more in depth and with a much higher pass mark requirement.

Part 2 - Practical Driving Test

From the date you pass your Part 1 test, you'll have 2 years to complete the next 2 parts of the qualification process. Part 2 tests your driving ability, and you will be examined on all aspects of driving over the course of around an hour. You will be required to perform all manoeuvres and drive at a very high standard for the duration of the test.

Part 3 - Teaching Ability Test

This final test examines your knowledge and ability to teach learners to drive. A mandatory minimum of 40 hours of training must be undertaken on this part of the qualification process. The exam is conducted by a senior examiner who will observe you teaching a pre-planned lesson. Once you have passed this test and have been accepted onto the DVSA's register, you are now a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor.
